My name is Kristine Mortola, I was born in New Jersey and moved to Texas when I was 11 years old. I am currently in my last semester as an undergraduate student at the University of St. Thomas. I have been assigned to complete my student teaching in Spring Branch ISD at Thornwood Elementary School with Mrs. Kim Kinard's Kindergarten class. Through my expereinces in various classrooms over the past years I have seen how rewarding it is to see the progression of the student's academic and social growth in the classroom. I am excited to end my undergraduate career this semester and enter the field of education!
My name is Kim Kinard, I am a native Houstonian and a graduate of Texas A&M University. I have always known that I wanted to be a teacher! I began my career six years ago as a reading specialist here at Thornwood Elementary. I adore every student that comes through my room each day. I can honestly say there is never a dull moment in Kindergarten! I believe it is so important to have children immersed in real life settings where learning becomes more meaningful for the child. In our classroom, we do lots of hands on activities as they address many important skills. The most rewarding part of my job is being able to see the growth of my students from the beginning to the end of the year, when I truly reap the benefits of watching the seeds I have planted grow into beautiful flowers!
